The Castle Craig, from Odessa in the Black Sea, was loaded with Russian grain, oil and feathers when she lost her bearings in thick fog and drove on to Brook Ledge.

The crew of the George and Anne were summoned at 4am and launched into the heavy freezing seas. They had great difficulty getting alongside the vessel so as to take the crew off. Eventually, after two trips all 31 of the crew were saved. This porthole was found under the sea at Brook and is believed to come from the ship.
